About Ethiopia Gera Estate
Some coffee origins have a way of finding their way back onto our menu year after year, and Ethiopia’s Djimma region is one of them. Time and time again, coffees from this part of the world have become favorites among both our team and our customers. They’re consistently vibrant, fruit-forward, and endlessly enjoyable to brew.
Our newest single origin, Ethiopia Gera Estate, comes from the Gera Estate in Ethiopia’s Djimma region. Grown at approximately 1,900 meters above sea level, the farm benefits from ideal growing conditions that allow the coffee cherries to develop remarkable sweetness and complexity.
What Makes This Ethiopian Coffee Unique
Like many of our favorite Ethiopian coffees, this lot is naturally processed, meaning the coffee cherries are dried with the fruit still intact before the beans are removed. At Gera Estate, the cherries are carefully dried on raised beds, allowing the fruit sugars to slowly influence the coffee while preserving clarity and balance.
The result is everything we look for in a natural Ethiopian: abundant sweetness, lively acidity, and layers of vibrant fruit without becoming overwhelming. It’s expressive enough to keep every sip interesting while remaining clean and approachable.
Tasting Notes: Strawberry, Blueberry, and Pineapple
This is one of those coffees that immediately reminds us why we love roasting Ethiopian naturals.
In the cup, expect notes of ripe strawberry, juicy blueberry, and bright pineapple. Strawberry brings a sweet, jam-like character, blueberry adds richness and depth, while pineapple contributes a refreshing tropical acidity that keeps the cup lively from beginning to end.
Whether brewed as a pour-over, drip coffee, or espresso, Ethiopia Gera Estate offers a bright, juicy profile that showcases just how dynamic specialty coffee can be.
Why We Love This Ethiopia Coffee
Every year we look forward to bringing in coffees from this region, and almost without fail they become some of our favorites to roast, brew, and share. There’s something unmistakably joyful about a great Ethiopian natural—the combination of fruit, sweetness, and complexity creates a cup that’s both exciting and incredibly drinkable.
Ethiopia Gera Estate is no exception. It’s a coffee that reflects thoughtful farming, careful natural processing, and the incredible potential of Ethiopian coffee. If you enjoy bright, fruit-forward coffees, or if you’re looking to experience what makes Ethiopian coffees so celebrated, this is one we think you’ll come back to again and again.
