Rwanda Butare Bagaragaza Deo Recognized Among the Nation’s Best Coffees
We’re honored to share that Evermore Coffee Roasters has been named a 2026 Good Food Award Winner for our Rwanda Butare Bagaragaza Deo, an anaerobic process coffee with tasting notes of pineapple, sangria, and lychee.
The Good Food Awards celebrate food and drink producers across the United States who demonstrate exceptional craftsmanship while supporting responsible sourcing, environmental stewardship, and strong producer relationships. Each year, thousands of products are evaluated through a rigorous blind tasting process before finalists and winners are selected by a panel of industry experts.
The award-winning coffee comes from producer Bagaragaza Deo’s farm in Nyamasheke, Rwanda, and showcases the kind of exceptional farming, processing, and roasting that the Good Food Awards were created to celebrate.
Being recognized among this year’s winners is an incredible honor and reflects the hard work of everyone involved in bringing this coffee from seed to cup.
What Makes the Good Food Awards Special?
Since 2011, the Good Food Awards have highlighted products that are not only delicious, but also produced with care and integrity. Winners are selected based on both outstanding flavor and adherence to standards that support sustainability, transparency, and ethical production.
For specialty coffee, this means recognition extends beyond what’s in the cup. It acknowledges the work of producers at origin, the care taken throughout processing and harvesting, and the commitment to quality maintained throughout roasting.
As a small independent coffee roaster in Burlington County, New Jersey, being recognized on a national stage alongside some of the country’s most respected food and beverage producers is something we’re incredibly proud of.
About the Winning Coffee
Our award-winning Rwanda Butare Bagaragaza Deo comes from Butare Farm in Nyamasheke, Western Rwanda, where producer Bagaragaza Deo cultivates coffee on a two-hectare farm nestled among the region’s rolling hills. Since inheriting the land in 2006, Bagaragaza has dedicated himself to producing exceptional coffee, earning recognition as one of the top agricultural producers in his district and winning Rwanda’s prestigious Cup of Excellence competition in 2015.
This coffee undergoes an anaerobic natural process, in which freshly harvested coffee cherries are fermented in oxygen-free tanks before drying. The result is a remarkably expressive cup, amplifying the fruit-forward character of the coffee while maintaining balance and clarity. In the cup, you’ll find notes of Pineapple, Sangria, and Lychee
What makes this coffee especially meaningful is the story behind it. From Bagaragaza’s commitment to quality farming in Rwanda to the careful roasting performed at Evermore, every step reflects a shared pursuit of craftsmanship. The Good Food Award recognizes that entire journey, from producer to roaster, and we’re honored to help tell that story through every bag we roast.
