The Story Behind Misty Valley
The Yirgacheffe region in Ethiopia has long been revered for its washed coffees, but in recent years, producers in the Gedio zone have redefined what Yirgacheffe coffee can be by perfecting the natural (dry) process. Misty Valley is a standout example, developed by producer and exporter Abdullah Bagersh.
Unlike washed coffees, natural coffees like Misty Valley dry with their fruit intact, allowing the sugars and flavors of the cherry to infuse the beans. At the Misty Valley mill, ripe cherries are meticulously sorted and dried on raised African beds, turned constantly for the first 48 hours to ensure even drying. This results in a cup that is remarkably clean, fruit-forward, and complex.
A Cup That Speaks for Itself
Misty Valley offers a bright lemony sweetness balanced with juicy fruit tones and a smooth, milky body. A floral aroma on the nose hints at the elegance within, leading into a crisp and intricate flavor experience. Whether brewed as a filter coffee or a single-origin espresso, Misty Valley is sure to impress.
